One of the most common engine issues stems from the fact that even a great Briggs & Stratton engine occasionally suffers from engine run on trouble. If you have recently went out and started up the lawn mower and noticed that the sound that is coming from the engine is that of a wide-open blaring engine rev, then please have a quick look here at what we have created to solve that engine run-on issue.
1. Bad Ignition Switch or Loose Wire – Make a check on all the wires seeing if any are loose or not connected well. Tighten and re-wrap the ones that are in need. Replace Ignition switch if bad.
2. Ground Wire to Magneto Disconnected – If you have recently worked on the engine then this is what you forgot to tidy up! Re-connect the main black wire to its spade connector on the bottom side of the Magneto.
3. Groundwire is Wore Out or Broken Off – Replace the wire connections and start the engine.
