does the piston have to be at top dead center when reinstalling the cam shaft this one want come close its a 28N707 briggs 15 hp engine

  • admin says:

The crankshaft has a mark on it. So you can’t mess it up. When you are at top dead center the mark on the gear will be facing the cam gear. Just line up the mark on the cam and crank and you are ready to assemble.

I have a 1995 12.5 hp on an mtd ride-on mower that wont start. new battery, spark plug and engine is getting fuel Any ideas on how to start.?

  • admin says:

Will the engine crank over? The engine need fuel, ignition, compression, and timing to run. Need to check for ignition. You need a spark tester to check spark correctly. Most people tell me they have no spark and they really do. They just couldn’t see it by grounding out the spark plug. Then check compression.
