A long time ago way back when Briggs & Stratton was a fledgling company the impudence was on the traditional consumer market and this meant you. Now it is safe to say that the Briggs & Stratton engine repair sector of this dynamic and highly-successful manufacturing company has leaned towards more of the commercial engine business. What this means to the company in general is that they will have more of the market share with an already solid name in the business and will be able to further their influence by encroaching into a sector of the market where Briggs & Stratton engine repair was hardly noticed.

There are two numbers on my 5.5hp.000623fd and 1104020161EI I set the timing and it still Back fires. This motor sat for 3 years. I cleaned it,I put in
spark plugs, reset timing, adjusted valves and it still back fires. Can you
suggest what I can do next.

The engine timing should be set by the flywheel key. It is not adjustable. However, it could sheer. More than likely this is not the problem because it was running before it was put away, I assume. More than likely the problem is the carburetor. After being set for so long it could have stuck valves. Thanks for your question!
